    The current situation in the field of electric power production and heat supply suggests the need for the use of nuclear energy in a larger scale. Graduates of this programme are professionals for the nuclear power industry, they gain knowledge of design, implementation and management of existing nuclear power plants and an overview in the area of new advanced nuclear reactors and their research and development so that they are able to participate in such research and development. Graduates are thus experts especially in the design and operation of nuclear facilities as a whole, with an emphasis on mechanical issues (nuclear safety systems, cooling technology, materials and their lifetime, supporting technology of nuclear facilities, the issue of nuclear fuel cycle).     The Faculty of Pharmacy has been one of three faculties of the University of Veterinary and Pharmaceutical Sciences in Brno since 1991. The Faculty is a member of the Association of European Faculties of Pharmacy and its graduates meet all the requirements for the profession as defined by the European Union. The standard Master study program in Pharmacy takes five years and is compliant with EU directive. The program is concluded by defending the thesis and taking the final state examination.
